This lamb, veggie and quinoa mash was my sons absolute favourite. I would often mix up the vegetables used depending what was in season. You can also try it with cous cous, risoni or rice. There are endless possibilities when pureeing food combinations for your baby. When you introduce your baby to a wide variety of flavour combinations it helps to develop taste buds, encourage food acceptance, and discourage fussy eating.
Nutrition Note: Lamb is rich in iron – vital for brain development in infants and children.
STARTING SOLIDS: Do you know anyone who is about to start their baby on solids? Our first book How to raise a healthy, happy eater has been called ‘The Starting Solids Bible’ by some readers. Or our Baby Foodie e-Book is full of recipe’s, nutrition advice and forming positive food associations right from the first mouthful to help you and your baby through any fussy eating phases in the future.

Hi Allie, Great recipe! Do you freeze just the meat and vege portion or can you freeze it complete with quinoa? B

Hi B, yes I freeze the lot usually. I used to make it with brown rice and that froze well too 🙂

Hi Allie, I added fresh thyme in the end, as my rosemary bush lost its battle with the recent heat when hubby tried to move it! Anyway, it was beautiful & fragrant, and both boys (particularly my youngest who loves sweet potato – 1year) enjoyed it. Thank you! 🙂

What type of lamb did you use? Mince, chops (cut up) or did you make a lamb roast and used some of that?
Thanks heaps
Amanda

Hi Amanda, we used diced lean lamb however you could easily use mince or leftover lamb roast. Enjoy, Jx

Just wanted to say thank you for this recipe I was struggling for ideas for my 9 month old, I made it with pork mince and substituted the quinoa for cous cous and he absolutely devours it! Just made my second batch and I am sure he will be stoked to be having it for dinner tonight! Thanks again 🙂

This is my 9 month old son’s favourite meal. I cook the peas and corn separately and then add with the quinoa after blending the other ingredients, so that there are more lumps for him to chew. I give him a few spoons of stewed apple for dessert after this meal, so that the vitamin C in the apple boosts his iron absorption from the lamb. Thanks for the recipe!

Made this for my 6month old and he loves it, but so do I. Many times I have found myself scraping the bowl to get a taste after he has finished his meal. Loaded with vegetables and the goodness of quinoa and chia his first taste of lamb was a success. Thanks for a great recipe good enough for the whole family.

Am I missing something? Mine came out like a soup – very very liquid. Delicious, but I had to add like 4 cups of quinoa! We are going to be eating this for a month 🙂
