Fruit and chocolate Easter egg fondue

I love Easter, we all love Easter – and the chocolate? Yum. But I must admit, after a while I just want the eggs gone. The kids have had enough and so have I. So rather than devouring Easter egg after Easter egg during the holidays, we like to think of other ways for the kids to enjoy their chocolate. Oaty choc chunk biscuits, muesli bars, hot chocolates and even choc chip banana bread. This way they can enjoy their chocolate along with a little goodness from other ingredients like oats, milk & bananas. Plus you can freeze a lot of these things, so it’s really the gift that keeps on giving.

Or when I get really desperate, we invite over some friends, melt it all down and enjoy some fruit and chocolate fondue. It’s social, it involves fruit and it helps make the chocolate… gone.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of diced seasonal fruit
  • 200g chocolate Easter eggs
  • 1/2 cup cream or milk

Method

Step 1

Peel and cut your fruit and arrange around the yoghurt. Kids will get a real kick if the fruit is colour co-ordinated or in a rainbow pattern. -

Step 2

Place chocolate and cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 5 minutes or until smooth. Remove from the heat and place in a bowl. Allow to cool to a safe temperature before serving to children. -

Step 3

Serve with blunt skewers, fondue style. -
