i love cooking with legumes for my 15 month old. Are there any guidelines around when is an okay age to give whole? I’m always worried about them and choking but sure he would be fine! Just wondering…

Hi Alysha,
Great to hear your 15 month old loves them. I think if they are soft, easily mushable with their teeth/gums and tongue there is no problem to introduce whole cooked legumes. Just make sure you always supervise him 🙂 Or if you are concerned you could try mashing them. Our baked bean and chilli con carne recipes are really yummy and are a good way to introduce whole legumes. Your little man may even love simply picking them off his tray or tasting plate and popping them in his mouth – an extremely nutritious snack 🙂 I hope that helps!Enjoy, Jx
